The Chester Cafe is a free space for Teens in Manchester Maryland. We are staffed 100% by volunteers in the community. 90% of our volunteers are the teens who frequent our space.
Sixth Volta, Inc was founded in July 2016 as a Community based non profit, and in November 2016, The Chester Cafe was opened in Manchester Maryland to support local teens and give them a space to loiter, create, and call their own.
With a small coffee and snack shop in the front open to the public and a large free space in the back open to just the teens. We have the recipe for a fun and new experience in an otherwise small and rural town.
The Cafe has no greater mission than inclusion for everyone. By offering a safe space for all to not only meet new people, but to learn new skills, get access to enrichment programs. We pride ourselves in being staffed by the teens who frequent the Cafe. They help prepare food, they learn how to work with cash and change, they work with the public and gain valuable skills for their personal growth.
The Chesire Cat says it best "We're all a little mad here. You'll fit right in."
